SOS Children’s Villages is a Non-Profit Organisation building since 70 years families for children in need, helping them shape their own futures, and actively working on the development of their communities. We do this in 138 countries worldwide – also in Belgium.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Major Donors Fundraiser, a position reporting to the Partnerships Coordinator of SOS Children’s Villages Belgium, and based in Brussels. He or she will be responsible for maintaining and developing sustainable one-on-one relationships with existing and potential private donors and foundations, which are of vital importance for our fundraising.

You are a member of a result-oriented fundraising team, in a professional and open organization that is part of an international federation.


Your tasks will be:

  1. Via different ways and channels, you maintain and develop relationships with existing and future major donors
    • You are the key contact person for the existing major donors
    • You cultivate and maintain relationships, aiming to create strong, personal and durable relationships
    • You are responsible for the personal and financial engagement of the major donors and provide them with personalized projects and reports
    • You have easy access to relevant networks and are used to move into the environment of philanthropy
    • You do this with respect for ethical rules
  2. You develop and implement your annual fundraising strategy, contributing to the annual growth objectives of the organization
  3. You are responsible to financially develop this fundraising segment
  4. You evaluate the results and report them to the Partnerships Coordinator


Your competences and profile:

  • You have a degree in communication, marketing, economics or political & social sciences, with several years of relevant experience in fundraising or similar activities
  • You are strong in networking / relationship building: you can authentically listen to and engage with other people
  • You have experience in fundraising (companies, major donors, foundations, etc.)
  • You are perfectly bilingual (Dutch / French) with a good knowledge of English
  • You have strong (oral and written) communicative skills and inspire people to get involved with our organization
  • You are an entrepreneurial and result oriented colleague with strong organizational skills (giving presentations, raising enthusiasm for groups, guiding external parties, etc.)
  • You have an emphatic and open personality with perseverance, a sense of responsibility and independence
  • Stress and last-minute changes? These can occur. However: you know how to keep your head cool and you are always on the lookout for solutions
  • You are flexible and if necessary, you are willing to visit donors outside office hours (these hours can be recuperated)
